NYFW Hightlights.

The fashion weeks have always been my favourite time of year, especially since being a Fashion student. We used it as our Bible for styling inspiration for shoots picking out our favourite looks and interpreting them in our own way for our images. Looking through the Spring 2015 collections on a daily basis has been a distressing time for me - I miss uni so much and it's the first time in three years i've been able to study them at my own accord. I'm a bit late writing about my highlights of NYFW seeing as though we're now at London, however these were my most lust-worthy collections and my favourite looks.

Calvin Klein
Navy is a colour which has slowly been creeping into my wardrobe and could well be the new black this season. The Calvin Klein collection brought to everyones attention how simplistically perfect it really is with high necklines and layering being key. I have always been a sucker for short lengths and any excuse to get my legs out but i have well and truly been converted with the modest yet sexy ankle lengths shown throughout the collection and it is obviously a look i was drawn to with my choice of looks above. Definitely my favourite collection from NYFW - one of the only ones i was immediately drawn in by and i desperately need a pair of these shoes in my life.

MM6 Maison Martin Margiela
The middle section of the MM6 collection wasn't particularly to my usual taste with it's American Western feel, however the second half with luxurious monochrome androgynous pieces was sublime. The satin finishes and long length boxy jackets went hand in hand with a glimmer of trouser leg and contrasting platform shoes. It was a tough yet glamorous look, and definitely one i am going to try and interpret myself with my high street wardrobe. Long lines and layering are key to creating this tailored tom boy look, and with my all-black wardrobe it will be easy to recreate the style by adding some beautiful materials.

Rodarte Beauty
There was no way i could leave out Rodarte's eyebrow styling from this post. The collection itself wasn't particularly one which i was a fan of, however the clever use of silver eyebrow rings seems to have gone viral. Being pierced myself i am obviously a fan of a bit of face metal and it gave the edge to the collection it needed. It is going to be a huge styling inspiration for me for future shoots and i wish i could pull off the look myself. It's refreshing and inspiring to see something which hasn't been done before.

Disappointingly there weren't too many other collections which really stood out to me. Consistency is one thing which wasn't strong throughout NYFW. I'm not a fan of when a collection isn't a similar style all the way through and i found this a lot whilst watching and researching shows. If i see simplistic monochrome peices at the beginning of a collection, colourful prints isn't something i want to see at the end. There were a few looks which i loved from designers such as Tibi, Vera Wang, Wes Gordon and Dion Lee, but the collections as a whole weren't as striking as the two above. From having seen a few collections from LFW i have higher hopes for the Brits.
